On this exclusive experience, you’ll explore the most iconic locations of this fascinating story, including the legendary Palácio Estoril Hotel — where British intelligence officer Ian Fleming met the Serbian spy Duško Popov, the man who would later inspire the creation of James Bond.
Along the way, you’ll uncover the real-life stories of remarkable figures from both sides of the war, including Juan Pujol García(“Garbo”), Kim Philby, Graham Greene, Nubar Gulbenkian, and many others who once walked these very streets.
To bring the past to life, we use rare historical photographs that allow you to compare then and now — from hotels that once flew Nazi flags to the hidden corners where secret meetings took place. As a special highlight, you’ll enjoy a guided visit to the museum area of the Palácio Estoril Hotel, accompanied by its long-time concierge José Diogo, who has worked there since 1964 and shares unique personal insights into this extraordinary period.
